Greatwood Holiday Light Contest Rules

1. Participation is open to all residents of Greatwood.

2. Entry is free; no cost or fees apply.

4. Entry is automatic. All decorated homes in Greatwood will be considered.

5. Contest is for exterior decorations only, including decorations in windows that are visible from the exterior.

 

6. Judging will be based on “curb appeal” as viewed from the street only. Therefore, only those decorations located on the street side of the property will be judged (corner lots will be judged from both streets).

 

7. Judging criteria will include the following categories:

[a] Unique design and creative use of lights and decorations; [b] Storyline or theme; [c] Display and placement of decorations, animated objects, etc.; and [d] Overall presentation.

 

8. Judging will be done from:

Friday, December 13th - Hall of Fame Signs Placed

Wednesday, December 18th - 6:00 - 9:00PM - Light Judging

 

9. Participants should ensure that all lights, animations and decorations are in place and activated for the judging period on Wednesday, December 18th by 6PM.

 

10. Each winner will receive bragging rights, a custom certificate and name recognition on the holiday light contest website and Greatwood Social Media outlets.

 

11. Rules for Hall of Fame

• If you win Best Decorated for 3 years in a row with the same theme and decor, you are eligible for Hall of Fame.

• Hall of Fame Awards will be for a maximum of 2 years, with the same theme and décor.

• The homes listed below will be awarded with a special designation for their years of participation.  All other previous hall of fame winners will be back in able to compete for new awards.

• The homes with special designations are:

• 1131 Wood Fern - Best Kid’s Choice of ALL TIME

• 8206 Forest Gate - Best Theme of ALL TIME

12. Judges cannot judge their own section.
